What We Do

At the Step Rite Shoe Lift lab, we correct the way people walk every day. We do all aspects of shoe modifications, although a lift to accommodate a Leg Length Discrepancy is the most common.

Our training and experience allow us to do many shoe modifications for the general public as well as the healthcare field to dispense to their patients.

Please get in touch with us for pricing and discussion of shoe modifications other than a lift.

We stock several popular shoe styles in house, to offer a package deal to buy the shoe with a lift added for one discounted price. This service eliminates the shipping one way and allows us to lower the price for you.

Lift Information

There are several different ways to lift a shoe to accommodate a Leg Length Discrepancy.

  1. Add the corrected amount at the heel and ball of the shoe with a rounded toe to help with a natural gait. This method is the most common and most people find it to be the most functional and comfortable.
  2. Add the correct amount at the heel and a lesser amount at the ball of the shoe. The advantage of this method is the lift is less noticeable and the shoe can be more flexible at the ball. Disadvantages are more weight will be on the ball of your foot, and a different heel pitch between your feet. A dress shoe that one may not be worn for extended amounts of time would be a good candidate for this type of lift.
  3. Lowering one shoe and raising the other is possible. A ladies high heeled shoes that needs a ½” lift can have one shoe raised 1⁄4” and the other lowered ¼”, with or without a 1⁄2” being added to the ball of the shoe. It is also possible to do this type of lift on a western or work boot with a higher heel.

The color of the lift is matched as close as possible to the original sole color when added to the shoe. If a specific color is wanted please specify on the order form.
